Looked at out door soda machine gfci outlet but no egc code compliant or not?

Lots of possibilities... when you say "no egc" does that take into account the proper conduit system can be the EGC without the use of an actual wire ? Is it possible the wiring is old the GFCI might be a replacement for an old two-wire outlet ?
