Soffit lighting control from Malibu power?

I have Malibu 24VDC lighting around the house. The Malibu 300W power pack has a photocell and timer.

Questions:

1. Is there any NEC code issues if I use the 24VDC to energize a lighting contactor for the 120VAC soffit lighting?
2. Is a lighting contractor required, or is any 120VAC relay (of 20A rating) ok? Open frame required?
3. Is there any enclosure requirement for this contractor/relay or is any NEMA 1 box ok (this is going in the garage).

I have the soffit wiring almost complete and need direction.

Thanks
