I quoted my customer on a Square D Cpmbination Altistart 48 Controller; my cost is $2,900. My customer says he can get this PowerBoss for $1,400.00.

Does his $1,400 include the optional programmer? It looks like you can't adjust even the most basic settings without it.

You can change the Ramp Up Time by either selecting a more suitable application set or by connecting the software programmer, which is available separately.

Caveat emptor comes to mind.....

Combination starter implies protection from short circuit and overloads and a means of disconnect.

Does this gizmo:

1. have UL etc. approval?
2. have internal bypass contactor?
3. warranty?
4. OL protection for the motor?

Of course you can find less expensive hardware than $quare D, but this is not one I would entertain of using.
