What programs do you like for drawing circuit diagrams or single line drawings, especially for power distribution systems, for rough drafts and informal communication?

More context:
We operate a campus with a 115 kV substation feeding ~500 distribution transformers. I often find I want to do a quick sketch of a single line, but I don't want to hand draw it or breakout ACAD. For example, to post a question here the forum, I might want to draw a simplified version of whatever I'm working on.
I've I've used Visio quite a bit for other diagrams, but I find the stock component library lacking. Is there a library package I'm missing? I know there are some paid libraries, but really I only need a dozen symbols or so. I set out to create my own at one point but that project had its own issues.
I've been thinking about using ACAD for this. It seems like overkill though, and I haven't looked for a good symbol library yet.
We also have SKM PowerTools, which is definitely overkill. I'm looking for something to do rough drafts with, before then going on to ACAD and SKM.
Pretty much the same arguments apply (in my mind) to Etap, EasyPower, Solidworks... 1-to-1 alternatives to SKM and ACAD.
I use and highly recommend Yed (www.yworks.com) for block diagrams. Similar to Visio, it auto arranges blocks. This would be almost perfect if it had power system symbols.

Googling, I know there are tons of apps out there; anyone recommend any in particular? E.g.:

Anyone taking power systems classes right now; what do your classes use?

TIA

Won't come as a surprise, but many people have asked the same question here (search should turn them up). I use Draftsight but some prefer acad or visio; you can do quickie drawings in ms-word or libre-office.

If you want symbol libraries, you're pretty much stuck with any of the CAD software or with making your own.

If you only need 12 symbols you may want to try Excel.
Develop your symbols on a separate clean sheet...large library but making your own should not be that difficult.
Full range of colors and fonts.
Your one-line sheet would have all the row and column lines hidden and start dropping in symbols.
Then connect symbols with line drawing tools....have not used it recently.
Could even make your symbols into BUTTONS if you wanted to actually make the sheet do something.

D'oh... forgot to check.

Suggestions from past posts:

From 2008: ACAD, SmartDraw, Visio

From 2021: SkyCAD, QElectroTech, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, BlueBeam, Adobe Illustrator, Visio again, Google Drawings.

From 2023: ACAD, DraftSight

For quick rough sketches I use iPad OS Notes app on iPad using the Apple Pencil. It has a “snap” feature for straight lines, boxes, circles, etc. Screenshot and send or just share the note with whoever I’m working with.

It’s actually the most convenient tool I’ve found for this. You can import pdf’s as well and markup. I also use apple Freeform app almost daily for more advance markups and notation. You can load multiple pdf pages in a single workspace and collaborate. Has text boxes, sticky notes, etc. and a larger selection of pen tools. I’m using Freeform exclusively now for take-off’s.
