Solenoids in CL1D1 area

Are EXP (metal) flexes required for connection to a Factory sealed solenoid or can Liquidtite with approved fittings be used. I know that Liquidtite can be used in CL1D2 areas but cannot find info on D1 areas. Seems to be a waste of $ if EXP flexes are used if the device is sealed. Thanks in advance,

The rules are found in 501.10(A). LFMC is not one of the permitted wiring methods for Class I, Division 1 locations.

Yes, but that brings with it a number of other issues that have to be complied with.

The OP said an explosion proof solenoid and that term in not normally used to describe an intrinsically safe device. There is no need for an IS device to be explosion proof.

I have never heard of an I.S. solenoid. Usually the watts needed to operate them precludes meeting I.S. guidelines.
