Soow cable use

My plant has been following a practice for equipment installations usin SOOW cord on installations that are 240VAC and 60Amps or less. The practice has been used to keep equipment installations and moves as flexible as possible... my questions are as follows:
1. Is this an accepatble practice from a NEC Code standpoint?
2. (If yes above) What is the maximum magnitude for 'legal' use?

Cord pendants are permitted in restricted use.
Take a look at Article 400 and 368.56.
