Ok, I know this has been hammered and hammered on here but I have to set my mind at ease knowing that this will not be inspected, and unfortunately I don't agree with my bosses opinion on it. I've run 4 #6 from MP to 3R sub for hot tub outside, 30A 2p gfi & 20A 1p gfi brkrs to feed hot tub, with 2 #10H and 1 #10egc and 2 #12 H&N (no neutral for motor). Anyway then my employer wants a ground rod driven for the sub panel, and that's it. This hot tub is outdoors sitting directly on the grass.

#1) Don't I need to make and equipotential bonding grid, and tie it in with the motor egc. I don't quite understand where to tie it in, code says; shall not be required to be extended or attached to remote panelboards, service equipment, or electrodes(680.26 (B)) The hot tub has everything factory bonded.

#2) I assume there is nothing wrong with the ground rod even though not required.

#3) Anything I missed? I do have a service receptacle. I'm on 2008 code.

Thank you guys.

You do need an equipotential grid and it should connect to the lug on the motor of the tub.

A ground rod is not necessary and it is worthless in this situation.

Assuming everything is wired as you would a pool you are fine. Sounds like you have got it covered-- insulated EGC's I hope

I should clarify my statement-- If the sub panel is detached from the building it was fed from then a ground rod must be used. If the sub panel is on the same building then a ground rod is unnecssary.
Grounds rods are only for lightning protection IMO.
