I have explosion proof receptacles in a class l, div ll environment. If I were to purchase an appropriate hazard class portable fan, how would I power the device? Is SOW cord acceptable for use in such an environment?

The fan itself would need to comply with Section 501.135(B). The permitted application and installation of flexible cords is in Section 501.140. Assuming the installation is otherwise compliant, Type SOW is acceptable under 501.140 (B)(1).
