I've got a simple question that came to mind yesterday.
I should know the answer without asking, and maybe I do, I just need to confirm.
Dedicated 20A circuit for a spa in the master bath.
The pump motor (only load on circuit) doesn't have any info other than 1.5 hp/120V, so I don't know it's rated amperage....looks to be "foreign" made.
It came equipped with a 15A grounded plug.
Question.....Can I use a 15A GFI duplex receptacle (On a 20A circuit) to power this tub?
The receptacle will be under the tub near the motor and accessible behind a removable panel.
My mind says yes......a duplex is two receptacles on one strap...210.21(B)(3) can apply.
Then again, the tub is the only thing that will ever be plugged into this receptacle.....210.21(B)(1) intent ?????
The owner has already purchased the (15A) receptacle, and I'm curious.
I feel dumb for even asking.....
Any opinions
thanks
steve
