Has anyone heard of Space Nipples? I can't find them anywhere. They are like Chase Nipples with but threads on both sides. of the hex part.
 
HYDRAULIC nipples typically have a wrench hex between the threads. They are longer than close nipples and don't go, AFAIK, above 2". Their ID is smaller than conduit and OF COURSE are not electrical conduit ... but other than ID should be as good or better than conduit except for a UL certification.

If you want a data sheet on one manufacturer's product (Parker), let me know (PM, we're asked to not put email addresses in the forum). I have other manufacturer's data, and do not sell this stuff.

I guess I don't understand the need in a conduit run since you can buy or make nipples of any length. I can make close nipples using a regular pipe threader. It's tricky, but I can do it. That means pretty much any length can be made. Even a 1/4" longer than a close nipple.

There are nipples that are electrical listed that look pretty much like that. You may find them more commonly in big box store then in electrical supply houses.

Though you can use a close nipple, you likely need bushings on them and they may interfere with devices sometimes. They are handy for boxes you want right next to one another, yet covers may interfere with one another if you used a chase nipple, so they leave you with about a 1/4 inch gap between boxes.

I use them to gang up 1900 boxes on jobs where there is a lot of exposed emt.

Sure you can use nipples but then you have to round up some extra lock rings, bushings, so it's more work and looks ucky. With the box connectors its just like making up an emt connector, so it's easier and looks classy. When people see the finished product they appreciate it. Some take pictures.

We use these often on boilers where you have one 1900 box for the disconnect switch and another for the cover mounted Class 2 transformer.

Look it up if you're too young to understand, and don't bother with the flame wars over who it is, it was prior to the controversy taking place, so it doesn't count in my book. Hot is hot, you are not required to talk to them when ogling.

Barbarella was my first thought as well when I read the thread title. All other issues aside, she was a real hottie in those days.
