Spark Transformer Wiring

I've been asked if it is OK to allow the high voltage connection for a spark ignition circuit of an oven to be open (no conduit, high voltage insulation on wire and terminators only). Since I've never overseen this type of installation, I thought I should look up the applicable portions of the National Electrical Code and or any related documents. I am having trouble locating any information, which is why I am writing this (to ask for help). Thank you.

Re: Spark Transformer Wiring

What happens inside a manufactured component does not fall within the scope of the NEC. If the manufacturer can justify the installation, and if the component passes whatever tests might apply (i.e., in order to get the item listed), then the NEC will allow you to install it.

Re: Spark Transformer Wiring

I have done a few large ovens for a process lines and they were built on site with UL listed componits. I have always seen the GTO cables run from the HV ignition transformer to the ignitor in the open. These transformers produce very little current but could cause a shock/burn hazard. I belive they will fall under as only accessable to qualifide personal. Even on manufactured equipment they are run in the open?

I havent found anything in the NEC that address GTO cable except for neon lighting. and it's run as open conductors on insulators. 600.32(A)(1) allows this. So I dont think there is a problem unless it is within easy reach of the genral public?
