I reviewed a specification today on a commercial project that asked the specified vendors to meet or adhere to MIL--STD 220A
This standard covers a method of measuring, in a 50 ohm system, the insertion loss of feed-through suppression capacitors, and of single and multiple circuit radio frequency (RF) filters at frequencies up to 10 gigahertz (GHz).

My question is can a standard surge suppressor really meet this Mil-STD and why is this standard in a commercial project, i was under the impression that per ul 1449 3rd that all type 1 suppressors had to be tested with the capacitors removed?
