The 2020 code requires surge protective devices for dwelling units in multi-family residential buildings.

They can be either at the power disconnects or at the loadcenter if disconnects are outside.

So I have a modular meter center with meters/disconnects. Are there any provisions in these modular meter centers to add SPD's to the disconnects that you know of?

Thanks

No, but would certainly be a selling point. Most SPDS require a OCPD and can't be tapped off the buss. But a disconnect for a SPD is exempt from the 6 switch rule, and a mfg could add an SPD for the enter meter center. And the new rule 230.71 B means some meter center can no longer be used.

Most residential load center manufacturers offer a plug-on SPD with integral protection which can be installed in main lug only panels.
