I struggle with CCW to get it to connect about every time I use it. Make it every time. Via RS Linx. Enough so that I have mostly decided to quit using it. Admittedly if I used it more than once or twice a year. Is it easier with Ethernet?

My first thought of the "CCW" was Allen Bradley's Connected Components Workbench software. I've seen it being used by OEMs in smaller "stand alone" type applications/machines. Although the software is continuously evolving (I've encountered versions 8 thru 12), I have had little trouble connecting when I use ethernet comm protocol. It is a slow process however. I don't know if that's my laptop or the software.

The drives part of CCW works well, but I have only used it with Ethernet. No idea if any other communication network works well with it or not. It is a bit tedious sometimes, but it always seems to work. But far better to be in the nice clean air conditioned control room then out on the floor crawling around in the dirt and grease to get at the keypad on a drive located under a grating in a trench. :)

Last time I used if for the CR30 safety relay it was a pain to connect with USB, seemed hit or miss. We started buying the ethernet modules for those so we could program them through the PLC through Logix 5000.
