What is the specification for depth of trench for underground electric cable? This cable is going from the transformer to the building
(residential)

the answer is - "it depends".

the answer is different for cable versus metal conduit versus plastic conduit.

it's different if you have to run under a driveway, or a slab.

Assuming this is not under a POCO's control, it would be covered in article 300.5.

Table 300.5 Revise table as follows: In ?Column 4? and ?Column 5? change the SI unit value from ?50? to ?150 ? in the ?In trench below 50-mm (2 in.) thick concrete or equivalent? row.
Edit: I wonder why the choise to say SI unit instead of simply being obvious and saying 50 mm and 150 mm? :roll:

I know, I complain about this sort of thing too much.
