spiling class 2 wire

On recent job I had the inspection and we use class 2 wire for 12V LEd strip light. We have remote drivers located in closet. we extend wires with class 2 wire using splicing it and tape exposed wire. Inspector came and fail us for it because he said it splice has to be in box. I tried to argue with him that I doesn't. Did I missed something ?

Class 2 wiring with splices does not need to be enclosed in a box.

I don't understand why we have to go thru this.
I will call for a next inspection and I have my code book ready.

For it to be Class 2, the driver / power supply has to actually SAY "Class 2" on it. Does it?

Would Art 411 not apply requiring it to be a listed system ?

Terminations/splices for Class II circuits do not need boxes; 725.3.

Did you extend the wires on the line side or supply side of the drivers?

Actually we extend strip light wires going to a splice box next to transformer. Splice it and we go to a transformer with one wire.
