spill switch

I received a call to give a price on installing a spill switch on a boiler. The boiler is a gas steam boiler with a fireye controller . The thermostat controls a switching relay providing 110v to fireye. Would it be a acceptacle practice to run a series loop with the thermostat and spill switch. The fireye is a uvm-2 which is actually considered obselete .

Probably a code issue, I would check with the fire marshal or whoever inspects boilers. Other than that I would rather it in series with a high limit or LWC rather than the room thermostat.
