Splice/Taps - Service entrance conductors.

When a service disconnect located outside beside the meter on a residential project site already has Polaris connectors on the service conductors to feed a sub panel, can we perform a solar line side tap with IPCs. Looking to see if there are any restrictions in NEC in regard to max number of times IPC/polaris connectors/ the service entrance conductors can be spliced.

I don't know the answer to you solar question but that panel needs to be ripped out and a new one installed.

Aren't those Polaris connectors on the load side of the disconnect, not the service conductors? Look like they are connected to the conductors going into the building, not the conductors coming in at the bottom right.

If you end up replacing the panel, maybe you can get a disconnect with double lugs on the load side? Otherwise you could just replace the 2 port Polaris connectors with 3 port connectors.

Either way, you'd then be using the feeder interconnect rules, rather than a line side connection or the busbar rules. The main requirement being that the indoor panel has a main breaker sized to the feeder segment supplying it.

If those connections are really on the line side, the installation should have never been approved...you have two service disconnects that are not grouped with each other creating a violation.

There's not 2 service disconnects, only 1 but damn that's ugly and on top of that they didn't fix the issue of the now sub-panel requirements.

To answer the original question: No there are no restrictions, BUT...

Also I agree with infinity, due to the amount of missing metal at the bottom back of the panel, as well as questions about whether that's a bare neutral on the load side, whether there's an EGC to the sub, and how that's been landed. I would not be bringing an inspector out to look at it like that.
