Splicing different insulation types

Does the NEC allow splicing 2 wires, where each has a different insulation? Such as splicing THHN to THW wires.

Yes, but the lower capacity wire applies to the entire circuit or feeder.

They are both the same ampacity, just different insulation.

For derating purposes one has a higher ampacity than the other. THHN is a 90° C conductor THW is a 75° C conductor.

Got it.... but there's no issue with splicing them together?

No, as long as each is being used properly and the splice is in an approved location.
