Is it permissible to splice the GEC from the service disconnect to the water supply line? Furthermore, does it matter where the GEC attaches to the water supply line provided that there is a bonding jumper accoss the meter?

I do understand that the GEC to ground rod can not be spliced.

Yes, if done properly 250.62(C)

The way I read it, yes. 250.52(A)(1) states that beyond 5 ft the line shall not be used as a grounding electrode conductor.

Thanks everyone. Sounds like the GEC to the water pipe (and to the grounding rod) should be sized per 250.66 as well, correct?
