NEMA 6 (240V 2-wire, plus ground) duplex receptacles have the usual tabs on the sides connecting the two receptacles, so it would be possible to snap them and bring two separate 240V circuits to the device. Then NEC 210.7 would require that those two circuits have "a means to simultaneously disconnect".

So do manufacturers typically have a way to handle tie together two double-pole breakers? Particularly interested in Square D QO.

Thanks,
Wayne

For QO I don't think so. Some manufacturers like GE who use 4 single pole units to make a 2 pole main circuit breaker or a 4 pole, 3Ø shut trip breaker do manufacture a 4 pole handle tie. For Square D QO I've never seen one.

Unlike most brands, QO branch breakers use 1 handle for multiple poles.

With no Quad for QO, side-by-side double poles may use a handle tie, or wire between them
