Splitting 220 volt line into dual 110 volt lines

Will one ground wire in a 220 line serve as ground for two 110 volt lines if the two hot wires are split off into different receptacles? If not, then should a separate ground wire to a 6-foot deep steel post in the ground serve one of the two 110 volt receptacles?
