I have a customer operating a plating company in a group of buildings. He has two buildings next to each other, each with their own 2000A, 480V service.
One uses more power in one building vs the other.

They want to take about 200A from one building service to the other building.
Install a disconnect making it the sixth disconnect at the main service.
Is this in violation of 230.2 for only one service?

I did not consider this another service but the fire marshall may have other ideas.

Thanks
Vic

Interesting question.
230.2 allows a second service when the capacity exceeds 2000 amps, so a 2nd service would be permissible.
It seems logical that the second supply could be a feeder, but thats just an opinion.
Hopefully there will be others (opinions)

There is no way that you could take a feed from one service and combine it with another service and call it the sixth disconnect. The rule of NEC 230.71(A) would not apply in this case. It would be considered a separate service.
