Ruud lighting has superior products and reasonable pricing.

I'd go with a 1000 watt metal halide on a 20' pole.

We use them exclusively unless we have to match something existing.

Seriously. it's the best product out there for this type of light.

Sorry.....luminaire

Put a 1000W MH for a customers batting cage. He said he hated to wait for it warm up, don't you have something that comes on right now? Ended up putting up 2, 250V, 1500W quartz on 3/4 rigid bull horns. He loved it. The 2 lights were very impressive and $70 for both.

He said he hated to wait for it warm up,

People are funny. He could stretch and take a few warm up swings in the 3 minutes it takes for the thing to come up.

I want my light NOW dammit

You do need to instruct homeowners on the operation of HID lamps to avoid the inevitable "I turned it off and now they won't come back on" service call.

I want it now is the American way. Hope he pulls a muscle counting his money. Need to school designers / architects too. Did a library and the plan called out for HID can light in the bathrooms on a motion switch. Did several RFI's and ended up installing per plan. Got the check.

I wouldn't use a quartz lamp for anything personally. 2000 hrs of lamp life for a quartz vs. 25000 hrs. for an HID. Seems like a no brainer to me.
Just my two cents worth.... which in this economy I realize isn't worth much.

He's obviously never activated the lighting at any ballparks or arenas.

thanks for replies. I will buy something (based on info from here) and have the GC put in a base. I would like to say I will take pictures, but I guess we have to see if I can follow through :)
