Hello all-

I took these pictures as I dug into a remodel project I'm working on. Anyone care to list all the...ahem...violations? It's just for fun; I'll be removing the entire installation and starting from scratch.

Is that 3 pieces of NM cable? Looks like each one was turned into an individual conductor. Paralleled #12 or #14 wire--- Red Tag on that and the double wires under one lug.

Without knowing the specfics, it's hard to say, but how about bending the conductors too much? Looks like the green wire goes to it's own lug, not to the neutral bar (which may or may not be bonded). And if it is NM there, I'll bet it's too small for the breaker size, paralleled or not.
And hunting without a license?

I guess the rat was not a licenced electrical worker. :D

It's been my experince that few rats are licensed electrical workers, but too many licensed electrical workers are rats.

When you see pictures like these, you wonder how electrical fires start...if this installation didn't ever result in a fire...imagine how bad the one that burned was.

It's a violation even if the breaker size was the right size-- but you knew that. art 310.4

Did OSHA visit and site the owner ?
I especially loved how they doubled up on the THHN on multiple lugs. When did UL list that ?

Does that include arc flash gear as well?

I don't think OSHA could cite the owner. The deceased in an illegal alien working without a permit.

Actually, that squirrel didn't burn, or even get a shock at all. It simply got trapped and died there. Notice, the fur is completely intact. The fur is the first to go in a fire or the presense of intense heat. Further, there are no burn or scorch marks on the bones or the meter pan.

No need for a fire or sparks or burns.

Try fibrillation.

Ul Listed

I checked my UL white book and could not find a listing for squirel or rat. So, in either case the use of the small none U.L listed rodent is a serious violation!
