SPot the Violation : Tuesday Edition

Did a quick service call this morning: Lawn irrigation system not working. Traced the problem to the well pump being locked up.

I took these before I buttoned up the controls.

All I can say is WOW (Its a mess)!

Looks like they started with a two wire pump, when that failed, they just added another controller for a three wire pump, when that failed, they just bypassed again, and used another totally different three wire controller, apparently it was too much trouble to demo the old! Yeah, what a mess!

The top left is the AC disco.

Under that is a contactor connected to a sensor in the lawn.

To the right of that is a controller to sense the well going dry and prevents the pump from operating w/o water.

Above that is the starter for the pump itself.

The controller that senses the water level looks just like one of those old three wire controllers that plug in from the front! Is it one of those type that has an electrode that hangs down in the water to sense water level?

I'd say that's it. One leg is not broken by the controller, the other one is.

In the contactor to the sensor in the lawn, look at the conduit entries on the top, but also the bottom left hand side. Looks like the guy knocked out to many of the concentrics, and instead of using reducers or a close nipple, he just put two seal tight connectors together. What people will do to get out of the job. Scary

That'd look so much cleaner if all those components were installed in just one larger box.

I bet it looks alot better with the covers on. What cause the liquidtite to shrink?
