Spray Booth

My question is if a non hazardous classified material is going to be sprayed in a specific automated industrial process do the adjacent areas at the booth openings need to be maintained as a class 1 division 2 location?

Consider not just what they say they are spraying today, but also what they will spray tomorrow.

Also consider any solvents or other things present.

Just because the main ingredient is non-flammable and non-combustible doesn't mean there aren't other things present that in combination make it dangerous.

We don't consider steel or aluminum to be particularly flammable but put them in powder form and you have the main ingredient of thermite - memories of my Army days here.

Have them cough up a list of what's there and whether it can pass ASTM E 136 and get it all in writing.
