Spring settling VS the supply wire

A new house we're working on lost a phase two nights ago.
Good thing the phase that dropped was the same phase the furance was on so the fresh enamel ran and rippled :roll: ....
Here's what I found-

this is not u/g pipe - it's just a sleave for wire protection. I suspect the poco wire installers didn't place any slack in the bottom of the trench below the meterbase when isntalling the service feeders.

Or POCO runs up one side and connects from above so their is a small loop to alowe for some movement

My advice is to quit trying to understand it... it's one of those things where you are trying to apply logic and logic does not apply :grin:

That is why mouse ears are sometimes a good idea, glad nobody got hurt.

The only point of the slip fitting is to keep the pipe from pulling out of the meter you still need to keep a little extra wire in the meter
