I went to job site this morning and saw sprinkler pipe hang at 4 feet above electrical panel, one of the folks said code allow to have that installation as long as the pipe serve electrical room. That is not what I recalled from code requirement (the pipe either need to be 6 ft above panel or have drip pan protection for leak). Do you agree?

Is not permitted in the footprint of the electrical equipment within 6ft on the top. If above 6ft, then it is permitted if protection is provided to protect the equipment. This covers only the DEDICATED EQUIPMENT SPACE (FOOTPRINT OF EQUIPMENT) not the entire equipment room 110.26 (F) (1) a,b,and c

The Red Highlight says that pipe must be at least 6' above, if it is protected from damaging electrical equipment.
The Blue Highlight says sprinkler protection can be provided for the space if the piping complies with the previous requirements, ie. above dedicated space and protected. No Conflict.

No, this does not allow the sprinkler pipe to be within the dedicated space just that the spray pattern for the sprinkler protection may include the dedicated space. The sprinkler piping can be above the dedicated space, just not in the dedicated space.
