This is an interesting dilemma.

We installed a 480 V. MDP in a dedicated Electric Rm.

The Fire Marshall required sprinklers in that room.

The Electrical inspector required that we install a protective hood over the MDP to keep it dry from the sprinkler system since it was not rated NEMA 3R. ( We did this at some expense )

The following project (different state), we installed the ?hood? ahead of time since it was much cheaper to do it then.

This inspector is telling us we must remove it since the code requires the MDP to be included in the area that needs to be covered by the fire protection system.

They both ?seem? to be using the same section of the NEC for their arguments. 110.34 (F).

Help!!
