Has anyone seen a SQ. D panel that is feed by a main bus to a 70 amp breaker which in turn feeds the buses by #6. This is then feeding the rest of the panel except for the space across from this breaker.
This was a common design 30-40yrs ago. It is called a split bus panel. They came in many different variations. I don't believe Square D makes them anymore.
I was just wondering because I had to change mine out dec 26. (Merry Christmas to me) I think it is a terrible design any way. It is way too easy to overload the split busses. The only thing that I hated abut changing it out is that I had to go with a GE panel instead of SQ D. (i.e. new breakers) I just will not have to worry about any more though.
