I have 30 plus year old Square D load centers of all sizes in a nursing home that need locks on the panel doors. A website to narrow my search would be much appreciated.

Can you take the existing door lock to a locksmith & get keys made? It has already been suggested that you contact SQ D, perhaps a replacement key is still avail. from them.

Now this question - why does it need a lock? Old geezers getting in there to reset breaker for what reason? Or are they just so far gone they get fixated on it? They're old K&T sparkies, on the Bendfield mailing list??? Think it's the med cabinet????

The only loadcenter locks that Square D offers are the ones in the current Digest (page 1-13). The PK6FL design has been used since at least the early to mid 80's, maybe as early as the 70's. Prior to this lock design the load centers used a PK2FL which was a 'flip lever' semi-flush design. To my knowledge the standard Square D locks have all been keyed alike since the 50's.

They have an inspection coming up and the doors are swinging in the wind. Not only that but, the panels feed ventilators, IV drips, ect. Tandem locks might work, my distributor said to get numbers, take pictures and maybe SD can match them. Thanks for the help.

So does it need a lock, or a latch - or both? Is there a requirement that they be under lock and key? Is it part of a legally required stand-by system panel? I don't work health care - so looking to know.
