Why do I seem to be having a problem sourcing SQD QO single pole gfci plug-in breakers? The on-line suppliers list them at around $250 which would prompt me to call them and give them h*** even if I wasn't going to buy from them. Home Depot is the only one who stocks them and at the normal price of around $60. Seems all they and Lowes have is AFCI breakers now.

Huh... in the 3 HDs within 10 miles of me, there are 27 on the shelf, $68 each.

One thing... If you are searching for THAT part number, that is for the DISRTRIBUTOR version in a box. The places like HD and Lowes will have the "CP" version, which just means "Clamshell Pack" i.e. packaging for a retail store. So look for a QO120GFICP instead.

Interestingly though, the two Lowes stores near me are the same price, but both are out of stock. Makes me think someone at Lowes purchasing dept. was asleep at the switch last month...

I'm on the East coast and they are out of stock at Lowes here also. Yes, HD does have them. I'm searching for QO120GFI and not particularly at any Big Box. Just wondering if there was a problem at Square D.

Gordon Electric (who I frequently do business with online)- $111.09 with $18.92 freight!

Guess I'll drive over to HD about 45 minutes away or order online and wait a week. There is a Lowes about 15 minutes away that has everything Square D except this. I looked. This is a big Square D area, nearly every panel you'll see here is Square D for some reason.

I much prefer to do business with supply houses but there is nothing within a reasonable distance. I don't trust Amazon or eBay or sketchy online retailers for a lot of items.

List price on Schneider product page is $233. Actual price you may find at most supply houses or big box stores is going to be 1/4 to 1/3 of that price.

On line stores are the ones that will take the opportunity to sell for list price or even higher and probably do sell some at that price. If they actually have an inventory of them they likely not selling at that price, they would be hanging on too inventory for too long at that price. Or they maybe do sell same inventory under two different sites and take whatever hits they can on the higher priced site.

That's my big question. If you go to the Square D site, you will see something like $250. What purpose does showing a price like that serve?

Historically, since the 1950s Square D products where shown with a List price. They then offered discounts of various amounts, based on your customer classification, when you purchased through an authorized distributor. If you were a large enough customer you could negotiate special discounts on selected items. One problem they had was the negotiated prices were for a single distributor location. It has been 20 years since I was involved with sales, so I don't know their current practices.

As far as why. You can give or deny a discount whenever you want to, but you run the risk of pricing gouging if you increase prices. Look at the room rates posted inside hotel rooms versus what you paid at the counter.

still fairly similar.

At my distributor I get a lower price on QO items, pump panels and certain safety switches Than most anyone that walks in and wants same item that is not a regular customer.

Commercial/industrial panels and breakers- best way to purchase is with a quote for a project. If I want an I-line breaker it won't be at what the list price is but still is pretty high. But if I order say three breakers and the smallest panel with N1 cabinet, the price may be around what one breaker would be "over the counter". They not too likely to give you such pricing if you didn't order a panel with it though.

Need a NEMA Starter? it cost me more than if I purchase a pump panel with same size starter in it. The combination starters however aren't on similar pricing though they have a lot of same components and functionality to them.

When I needed MCC buckets, if I needed more than one, it was always cheaper to order a section of MCC with the starters I needed than to just buy the individual buckets. If you are just buying buckets they know they don't have to be competitive as only their buckets fit...if you are buying a section they don't know if you can use a different brand or not so they give better pricing.

I bought some recently for my house under a friend’s SPA account and they were $47/ea.
