"WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: General Duty Safety Switches.

Units: About 27,600

Manufacturer: Square D Co., of Palatine, Ill.

Hazard: The safety switch can continue to supply electricity even after being placed in the ?OFF? position. This poses the risk of an electric shock or electrocution hazard to consumers."

So did I read that right, that Square D will replace all installed switches? As in, come out to the building and swap them out?

All in all, that is an incredibly expensive mistake on someone's part. Wow!

Doubt it. I was involved with some bum transformers from Square D about 10 years ago. I forget what the problem even was. They shipped them to the dock of the affected businesses and paid a flat fee to change them out. It wasn't a ripoff. The payment was fair.

The other day either through a mike holt newsletter i recieved or something I got in my email about a recall on these same disconnects.Just goes to show that even if the switch says off CHECK IT !!!!!!!
