how many square feet is the single family dwelling on the electrical exam? is it always 1500 AS IN ANNEX D?

No, dwelling units are not always 1500 square feet. In general they will always vary and either the question will tell the footage or give you the dimensions.
Look at D2(c) as an example. 2000 sq. ft.
