Solve a debate for us - What does DSL stand for on a Square-D DSL-206 Breaker.
Also, are Westinghouse DSL-206 & Square D 206 interchangeable?

I have know idea what DSL stands for.

The Square D and Westinghouse DSL breakers are fundamentally identical, but they are not directly interchangeable. Westinghouse built their draw out breaker cubicles using a design different from the Square D switchgear. As I recall, they employed different interlocking or an interference mechanisms as part of the licensing agreement.

I believe the "D" comes from the original de-ion technology that breaks the arc. The "L" comes from the current limiting fuses that would be added to an adjacent fuse truck. The "S", I don't know.
You will see it in Eaton breakers too.

I agree the L means the breaker is built containing an internal current limiting fuse on smaller breakers or an external fuse on larger ones.
