Probably because it takes more to cut and thread it. Stainless is tough stuff. Fortunately, when we used it we just had to use SS Emt not threaded stuff.

with the right tools, it threads fine.
surprisingly, it bends ok as well.
304 that is. 316... if someone could afford
it, they'd put it in a trophy case, not a bender.
it's pretty springy, aside from the price of 316.

but.... adding 25% to the labor is reasonable.
people running SS conduit do it slower, to not
make mistakes.

2" sch 40 304 SS conduit = $26.10 per foot.

how much money do you want in the bone pile?
