Stainless Backsplash - bonding requirement

Does a stainless backsplash require bonding/grounding at outlets passing through the backsplash. Is the backsplash likely to be energized, I'd say no but it's so easy to add a small ground strap that I'm unsure why it wasn't done.

Currently, the backsplash doesn't touch the boxes or receptacles do to the size of the holes being just large enough to barely miss touching .

I don't know if it's required, but if I had one in my kitchen I would want it bonded.
