stairwell in electrical room??

Greetings everyone,

I was wondering if a stairwell is allowed by the NEC in an electrical room as referenced in the attached photo? If so, what kind of electrical equipment if any can be placed underneath the stairwell taking into account the electrical equipment required dedicated and working spaces as per NEC 110.26? Perhaps, only distribution transformers can be placed there since they generally would not have any conduits going up? I am working on a project where an architect requested this layout for a new electrical room.

I don't see where the stairs would be a problem with the gear opposite as long as you maintain 110.26 requirements.
Agree the equipment under the stairs would be limited due to the headroom requirement.

Are the stairs the means of egress from the electrical room or as emergency exit for floor above? If so I would think there is an issue.
