ok heres the deal , im not sure if i worded the title correct but i seem to remember something in the NEC regarding the pull out tension of receptacles . anyways i live in a rental apartment since i have moved in nothing will stay plugged in you have to squeeze the blades of the plug together to make them stay ,( i know shame on me !) I have advised the management and requested they replace them all . these apts were built in the early 80's im sure these are possibly original. i would look this up but my copy of the "book" is at the shop 45 mins away . when i got home today my girlfriend told me the plug for the tv started smoking so she unplugged it .i looked at it and its toast it melted the blades on my tv cord . so now im in a battle with management about it. they sent there min. wage maintence guy over , this guy can barley change a lightbulb . he says there fine and of course im going to call bull on that . being this is a rental residence isnt it required that a LICENSED electrician make these repairs . this is in san diego ca btw
i lived in another unit in the same complex a few years ago . my AC was out so they sent the "genius" over to check it out . the first thing he did was pull the fusiable disconnect and replaced the fuses , didnt even have the skill or knowlede to test the old ones . he stuck it back in and said well i dont know i guess we will have the AC company come out . so they did and recharged the system 2 days later the pull out fuse disco had worked its way loose , the genius came back and pushed it back in 2 hours later i called the fire dept
cant forget the replacement dishwasher ordeal , the min wage guy put it in i watched him wire it he decided since there was only a white and black wire in the dishwasher and a funny green colered screw he would put the feed ground and neutral together with the dishwasher neutral , when i asked him about it he said " oh well it dont matter they end up in the same place in the panel anyways "
