Standard Load Calculation Ungounded vs. Grounded Conductor Sizing

Lets say for instance you have a total of four fixed appliances one being the electric hot water heater, when figuring the load for the ungrounded conductors I can use the demand factor because I have four or more appliances.

So when sizing the grounded conductor with the same scenario four fixed appliances one being the electric hot water heater, there would be no demand factor applied, due to the fact that the hot water heater is not a load that uses a grounded conductor which takes you under three fixed appliances, thus you have to use 100% of the load (only on the grounded conductro part of the calculation).

Am I correct in every book I have it really does not break this part down very well.

Thanks

I would say you are in two different articles. 220.61 will cover the neutral, 220.53 is the appliance demand factor. You can't apply 220.53 to the grounded conductor.
