We are looking at the use of standard Type MC cable in healthcare facilities for normal lighting circuits in non-patient care areas only, and from reading the NEC we're not sure of the extent of its permitted use. Are there any limitations or prohibitions to the use of standard MC Cable for normal lighting in non-patient care areas?

In non-patient care areas, regular MC is fine for normal systems wiring.

Depending upon how much area of non-patient care area you are dealing with it may be cheaper to use Healthcare rated for the entire facility.

Basically what I am saying is that if you have Electricians running around looking for which type of Cable to use you may cost yourself as much in labor as you saved in material.
