Standard or Recommended Practice for Testing Process Measurement Devices???

Does anyone know if there is any code, standard, or recommended practice (API, IEEE, NFPA, NETA, ISA, etc) dealing with the testing and calibration of processes measurement and control devices such as transmitters and/or switches???

I'm trying to determine at what intervals we should be testing/calibrating such instruments. I know we must test Emergency Shutdowns annually but trying to determine if there is some requirement about other non-esd devices...what's mandatory or recommended by a respected/informed organization.
