Standby generator residential

As you know optional standby generator systems is taken out of article 702.
I have to run 100 amp feeders from the transfer switch to the generator. Some electrical contractors have told me that the 83% rule does not apply.
I would like to run # 2 AL 75° column 90 amp rated.
Or do I have to run #1 Al 75° column 100 amp rated?

but, the issue was brought before State AHJs here and they will not allow the 83% rule on generator feeders.
