Good Morning

My questions is if you have a residential home with a 500 amp service with a 600 amp disconnect fused at 500 amp going to a CT cabinet do you feed your 600 amp rated ATS from the disconnect and load out to the CTs or do you feed your ATS from load side of CTs and load out to individual panels via bugging in CT cabinet ?? don't know if you can splice/bug in CT cabinet..

Thanks

It would be up to the power company regarding any extra wiring in with the CTs. I think you can assume they will say no.

Beyond that make sure you don't put the ATS ahead of the CTs or the customer will be paying the power company to use their own generator.

In a commercial installation I saw just that. Utility fed several services one was a retail Busway to the Service Disconnect then the CT Cabinet. They put the ATS between the Service Disconnect and CT Cabinet.
