Yes here it is, another one of my meaningless Polls... Actually they mean something to me, and might mean something to someone out there besides me

Two notes I just discovered on polling:

  • You can vote for more than one option.
  • Don and Lou, that's not very nice. :D

Nobody said it was an anonymous poll! :D

To be honest, I really don't see the point of plastic insulated staples used with NM cable. We have several contractors here that use these products and it does look very nice, but I don't see an overwhelming benefit considering NM is already insulated. In my opinion, the problem isn't the staple, its the installer of the staple.

If used properly and done neatly, cables ties can be sufficient however it generally tends to be very sloppy looking. It's very hard to maintained proper securing with cable ties when used on studs.

When working with wood framing, staples are the way to go - metal or plastic - I have no real opinion. When working with steel framing, I like the incorporation of both a standoff and cable ties. This keeps the cable separated from the stud (support) and also properly secures the cable nicely.

sorry to those that are tired of these dumb polls (i did put it as an option)
and although these are not code issues, i personally like getting opinions from so many people in so many places.
I find it usefull

but ill try to be alittle more conservative with that button in the future...

(What?? I can post a POLL??? WOW! lets see... hmm)

;)

I'm a little surprised to see more use steel staples. I never see metal staples used on new construction around here.

I don't know plastic causes less problems, but it seems like it would, and there was no better choice in the poll for me. :) (smiles don't show up in editting still   , well this one did:  )
