statewide master or qualified agent

I was asked by a contractor what the difference between a statewide master electrician and a qualified agent was. I told him that I didnt know I would check it out. Can anyoune define qualified agent for me?

"Qualified agent" doesn't ring any bells for me, over here in Minnesota.

What is the context for understanding the difference between a statewide master electrician and a qualified agent?

I have seen the phrase used in the context of a business person who is authorized to act (i.e., to make commitments) on behalf of the company. I tried a Google search, and came across an application form that a company would use to become licensed to do electrical contracting work. This example was for LV contracting in North Carolina. The form had to be signed by a "Qualified Agent."

I am in Maryland and hold a statewide Masters license. This means I have passed the state of Maryland's exam, and I can obtain a license in any of the Maryland counties just by applying for it. It also means I have NOT assigned my license to a company .
I believe a Qualified agent is a license holder who has assigned their license to a company and may appoint another to sign for a permit for that company only. Better check to be 100% sure .

As Luckyshadow alluded to a Qualified agent is one that has assigned their license to a company.

I hold a Statewide License in Maryland that is assigned to my company. My license paperwork list me as a QA.

I am not sure about being able to grant someone else the ability to pull permits for the company tho.
