Static or rotate Tune

My experience is that rotating tune is only required for precision speed or positioning applications. It's like splitting hairs. Static is fine for a pump.

Several years ago I had tech support for, IDR who, tell me they had never done an Autotune. Often wondered about that.
Before the advent of Sensorless Vector Control (SVC) there was no need for it. Full blown Flux Vector Control drive use was / is rare, less than 1% of all installations, so technicians for companies that sell cheap simple VFDs may never come across that. SVC changed that but even then, some drives come with a factory default setting of V/Hz so they don't need it if you don't change to SVC. More often than not now however, drives are coming with the factory default set as SVC and the Autotune needs to be done. The latest generation of VFDs now use transistors that turn on so fast that the manufacturers are recommending doing an Autotune even if you are using V/Hz control.
