Steel Roof Bonding

Merry Christmas

I encountered a situation I had never encountered—a stick-built building with a steel roof. A question came up: Is the roof required to be bonded? The NEC does not mention steel roofs; the only thing I know of is 250.104 (c), and from the wording, I would say no because the steel roof is not part of a metal framework.

If you had overhead service, solar, or any type of electrical wires, including wire antennas, then I think it would be required, but again, I cannot find anything in the NEC that calls out steel or metal roofs. What am I missing?

I had the roof bonded to the GES with a #6 AWG.

Wouldn't the roof would be bonded by the EGC in whatever may energize it?
There is no electrical equipment to carry an EGC, just a steel roof on a wood-frame building. I cannot cite codes that require it to be bonded to anything under any condition. Common sense tells me that if there is overhead service or wiring, it needs to be bonded to the service ground. The code is silent, or I am overlooking something.

I agree there is no code required bonding. Just like we don't need to bond aluminum gutters, leaders siding, and soffits.
