Hi, I need to size a step up transformer for a 1/8 hp motor. I have not seen the motor name plate as of this time. But hoping someone can help me with the calculations to size this.
120V Primary
240V Secondary
1/8 hp motor
I know a 1 hp motor = 746 watts
So I would think a 1/8hp motor= 93.25watts
NFPA 70 Table 450.3B primary and secondary protection less than 9 amps Primary=250% Secondary=167%
So would I size the Transformer VA at 155.73VA
Or would I size the transformer using V X A = VA X 167%
Or am I way off on understanding this??
